Mike Supple: You're watching Screw It on SuppleWine. I'm your host, Mike Supple.

This week I'd like to send out a big congratulations to the Careless Hearts - a band that we got to feature in the Bubble Lounge a little while ago. This past weekend, the Careless Hearts played a show with James Williamson, the legendary guitarist (and songwriter) from The Stooges. If you haven't heard of Iggy Pop or Iggy and The Stooges, you should definitely check them out on Wikipedia and get into some of their music. They are credited for being some of the founders of punk rock, and even heavy influences of metal and alternative music in the US.

James Williamson hasn't played guitar with them and hasn't been with the band for years. In fact, this show was the first time he's been on stage in 35 years. So it was a pretty impressive feat and a lot of fun for the guys in the Careless Hearts. The Careless Hearts got to cover a lot of the old Stooges songs and James himself was there playing guitar like back in the day.

I'm going to show a piece of the concert here - that's the whole Screw It this week. You'll hear James Williamson on guitar and Steve Mackay - the original saxophonist from The Stooges - on saxophone. You get all the members of the Careless Hearts playing their instruments and covering all the great songs.

They opened the set with "Raw Power," which if you know The Stooges, then you know that song. You have to forgive the sound and video quality - it was filmed on an iPhone. But just hearing James play for the first time in 35 years is worth it. Check it out.

"Raw Power" played by James Williamson and Steve Mackay, featuring the Careless Hearts. Live at the Blank Club, San Jose, CA - 5 September 2009.
