Mike Supple: You're watching "Screw It" on SuppleWine TV. I'm your host Mike Supple, and today I'm talking about one of my favorite things - sparkling wine. In particular, I'm talking about a company in Australia called Zork. They created a new product that's just hitting the market now to replace the corks that go in Champagne bottles.

Why would you need to replace the cork? There are a few different features that they're focusing on here. First, it has a lower carbon footprint. Making the Zork product takes less material and produces less carbon emissions than making the regular cork and capsule for a Champagne bottle. It's also 100% recyclable - all the materials that go into the Zork. The third thing that they're focusing on, the big issue, the big feature of the Zork, is that you can re-close your bottle of sparkling wine or Champagne. You can put [the stopper] back in the bottle and they claim it will hold the bubbles and keep it fresh for up to three days after you open that bottle.

I figured we should take a closer look because I think anything that keeps my Champagne tasting better, longer, is always a good thing. Let's take a quick look here and see what the Zork's all about. [Insert of Zork footage showing how to use their new stopper.]

Well, there you have it. It looks pretty fancy. I don't think it's really in the US market yet - it's just started to hit the market in Australia and parts of the UK. As it starts coming across I'm definitely going to grab a bottle the first time I see it out there to just see what it's all about and test it. I like sparkling wine and I like playing with new features.

I know some of you are probably thinking, and I know one of my first thoughts was, why do you need something to keep your sparkling wine fresh for days? In my house, as soon as you pop that cork it's gone within a half an hour. But, for those mornings that you really can't drink more than two mimosas before work it's nice to know you can put the thing back in the bottle and have fresh sparkling wine waiting for you when you get home. What better way to get in to your house than having a nice glass of bubbly to keep you going?

So, as soon as it's out there I'll give it a try and report back to you. Cheers!
