NCAA® March Madness® and Wine
Syracuse and 2007 Delas Cotes du Rhone St Esprit
Syracuse breakdown - It's hard not to root for Syracuse after watching them play (for oh so many hours) in the Big East tournament. Their enormous win over Connecticut should give the Orange confidence, and they'll likely have the support of most neutral fans. Jonny Flynn has proven himself to be a primetime player, and he has solid support from Eric Devendorf and Arinze Onuaku (and of course Justin "Jumping Jack" Thomas). The big unknown for Jim Boeheim's team will be whether they have recovered physically from their exhausting run in the Big East conference tournament.
2007 Delas Cotes du Rhone St Esprit - Like Syracuse, this is a wine that just will not quit. From a fantastic producer, this is an outstanding and very complete wine. While the body and strength comes from the primetime grape Syrah, this wine achieves its balance and complexity by adding in a good dose of support from the Grenache grape too. This is a wine that works hard to earn your respect, and the flavors just keep on lingering long after the wine is gone.
