2005 Les Tourelles de Longueville

Black/purple core with a ruby rim. Rich aromas with warm, toasty oak and vanilla surrounding ripe blueberry, sweet eucalyptus, plum and grape Big League Chew Gum. Great entry on the palate with dark black cherry, blackberry and blueberry leading the charge. Full bodied with full, chalky tannins. Toasty, charred oak and blackberry on the finish with a touch of minerality.

This wine is a second label of the famous Bordeaux estate Pichon-Longueville Baron. A blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.

2004 Pibran

Dark purple core with a touch of garnet on the rim. Big floral aromas of violets and roses surround dark cherry and chocolate with a touch of sweet oak. Coffee on the front palate leads to a medium bodied wine with some bold tannins that smooth out on the finish. There is a touch of alcohol on the mid palate, but it is covered well by vanilla and dark cherries on the back.

A blend of about 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot.

2007 Pontet Canet

Medium purple/ruby core with a bright ruby rim. A touch of anise and black cherry with some green herbal and toffee aromas. Great entry onto the palate. Chewy dark blackberry and plum. A little thinner on the mid-palate, but good power and lingering fruits in the finish.

Medium ruby core with a fuchsia rim. Bold plum and blackberry aromas. A bit closed up front, but fantastic mouthfeel. Very nice acid and soft ripe tannins.

2007 Lynch Bages

Thick in the glass with a dark purple core and fuchsia rim. Coffee aromas up front backed by dark cherry and blackberry fruits with lighter violet and floral notes. Roasted coffee palate entry as well. Fairly chewy tannins although pretty refined. Tight flavors, but black fruits lead to a chalky finish.

Dark core with a fuchsia rim. The noes is tight and dominated by oak, but there is a touch of sweet blackberry. Lush fruit entry with a nice mid-palate. Red and black cherry fruits with a fairly bold tannic finish.

Medium ruby core with a fuchsia rim. Red currant, blackberry, black cherry and a touch of flint surrounded by toasted brown sugar aromas. Soft entry on the palate. A touch green up front with a bit of dry tannic edge. Orange zest with spicy blackberry and cassis lead to a vanilla finish. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Medium ruby core with a pink rim. Vanilla, cocoa powder, oak, red cherry and a touch of flowers on the nose. New oak on the front of the palate. Notes of clay under raspberry and cherry with a dark toast and bitter chocolate finish. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
