92/B+

Tasted by Mike Supple - 12 Mar 2009

Dark, inky purple core with a glass-staining fuchsia rim. Gamy and meaty aromas of brown sugar glazed ham stalk over fresh herbal anise, dark blueberry and ripe blackberry fruits. Wild yet impressively restrained blueberry and huckleberry on the palate are backed by ripe black cherry. Thick and mouth filling with enough acid for balance. The dense fruit gives way to wisps of smoky ham and brown sugar on the finish.

A blend of 79.1% Petite Sirah, 9.5% Syrah, 9.1% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2.3% Valdiguié

Dark, inky purple core with a vibrant rim. Spicy aromas of caramel, licorice, cardamom and nutmeg around rich plum and blackberry with a smoked ham and white pepper punch. Big in the mouth but with great balance. A hint of nickel and minerals come in on the mid-palate supporting toasty red cherry and raspberry, leading to lingering candied violets.

88 / B+

Tasted by Mike Supple - 22 Aug 2008

Dark ruby core with a lighter rim. Roasted oak and coffee with a lot of wet slate over aromas of ripe red and black cherries with a lingering floral note and a whiff of smoked ham. Good acidity on the palate keeps it fresh and juicy. Cranberry and roasted cherries are joined by a touch of earth and smoky game on the finish. Touch heat on mid, hint bitter on finish. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot.
