Dark ruby core with a lighter rim. Fruity and bright aromas of black cherry with smoke and earth wrapped around it. Smooth, easy entry on the palate with bright acid making it fresh and easy to drink. There is a touch of baker’s chocolate with black cherry and raspberries and a nice punch of chewy tannin supporting the body.

Dark core with a touch of garnet on the rim. Fresh cherry and dark plum aromas are supported by smoky tar, violets, charred oak and lingering sweet blueberry. Smooth and juicy entry on the palate. Lots of very soft, approachable tannins supporting a core of dark fruits with highlights of vanilla and caramel. Silky from the front to the back of the palate with a long, lingering finish of raspberries and cream. In a word, delicious.
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc.

Tasted by Mike Supple - 11 Feb 2008
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Sangiovese. Deep purple core with just barely a hint of a bright ruby rim. Dark aromas of black cherry and blackberry are lifted by light floral aromas, cinnamon, cocoa powder and leather. Full bodied on the palate, with bold yet very ripe and round tannins. Black licorice, blackberry and plum are backed by leather, graphite, vanilla and milk chocolate. The finish is rich, long and bold with a nice cassis note. Deep and complex, this should continue to develop in the bottle for the next couple of years, and the high, balanced acid and full tannins matching the power of the fruit should allow this to easily age another 10+ years.
Wines made from a blend of grapes not typically grown in Italy are becoming more popular, and are known as Super Tuscans when produced in Tusany (and given the Italian government’s approval). This is simply a fantastic wine. Tastes great young, but will age for a while. Can be drunk on it’s own, but like most Italian wines should really be enjoyed with a meal. Try something with tomato sauce or some good fat to it like dry salami.

95% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium density purple and ruby core with a thinner pink rim. Bright red cherries are surrounded by cocoa, tobacco, dusty earth and light metallics on the nose. In the mouth the flavors are somewhat more subdued. Fairly bold tannins, though somewhat coarse and green. Sour cherries, cocoa and chalk lead into the medium length finish.
Too many Chiantis are associated with cheap, bulk wine. Querciabella is a very solid producer, although their 2005 is not as good as most vintages. On the plus side, it is not over priced.

The wine enters the mouth with a nice soft, rich and round feel. Coffee, mocha, black cherry and sweet tobacco linger for a ling time on the finish. 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Thick, opulent dark black with a bright red rim. New oak aroma over intriguing steamed rice and soft cherry and cassis. Very smooth on the palate with fine round tannins in the mouth. Long, sweet, spicy cherry, vanilla and raspberry finish. This is a powerhouse with beautifully integrated tannins.
This wine is not yet released from the winery, thus it has no price or value grade.

Medium ruby-red core with a light brick tint on the rim. Black cherry fruit is surrounded by earth, charcoal, black truffle, wet stone, black licorice candy and molasses, all under a wisp of violets. Soft entry in the mouth, building to a soft, sweet medium body on the mid-palate. Sweet leather and dark earth support red cherries and cassis.
The harsh tannins from when it was younger have settled well, and it is drinking beautifully right now. This is a very well known winery and an excellent Cabernet if you need a bottle to impress somebody like a date’s parent.

Tasted by Mike Supple - 27 Aug 2008
Medium ruby core with a pink rim. Orange zest aromas over cassis, strawberry and red cherry with lighter charcoal and wet earth notes. Sweet cocoa and strawberries on the front palate with nice baking spices on the back. Black cherry with a touch of licorice and vanilla on the finish. This is a real easy drinker, not a lot of tannin. For the price, I’d like to see a little more tannin or complexity. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Dark ruby core with a lighter rim. Roasted oak and coffee with a lot of wet slate over aromas of ripe red and black cherries with a lingering floral note and a whiff of smoked ham. Good acidity on the palate keeps it fresh and juicy. Cranberry and roasted cherries are joined by a touch of earth and smoky game on the finish. Touch heat on mid, hint bitter on finish. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot.
